The other night, Dave and I swung through Kroger to pick up some cream cheese and spinach, and we spotted the most beautiful strawberries. Immediately we each got a hankering for chocolate covered strawberries, so we snagged a package and headed home.
I didn’t have much time to spend slaving over the stove to make the delicious dessert, so I turned to the method that never lets me down.
Ingredients
- Chocolate Chips (I prefer dark chocolate and always use these)
- Heavy Whipping Cream or some other sort of milk
- Cinnamon
- Strawberries
- Parchment Paper (optional but definitely helpful)
What to Do
1. Heat about an inch of water in a stock pan and place a double broiler on top. If you don’t have a double broiler, just use another metal bowl. I’ve never owned a double broiler and probably never will because this works just fine for me:
2. Pour some chocolate chips (I use about half a bag for a carton of strawberries) in your broiler or bowl and adjust the heat until they start melting slowly (the steam from the water will cause the chocolate to melt).
3. Add a dash or two of cinnamon powder and heavy whipping cream (or milk) and let them melt together slowly (you don’t want to burn the chocolate!).
4. Dip your strawberries! I like to make sure they are covered very well. Yum.
5. Place them on a plate (preferably covered with parchment paper so they don’t stick; but if you don’t have any and you want your sweet berries now, don’t sweat it) and stick the plate in the fridge for about 20 minutes. This will allow the chocolate to cool and harden.
6. Enjoy as many as you’d like!
It took me about 5 minutes to set up and melt the chocolate, 5 minutes to dip the strawberries, and 20 minutes for them to cool (we ate dinner during this period so it flew by).
See? Fast and simple. And trust me when I tell you that they are delectable. What’s your secret for chocolate dipping? Let me know below!

Yum!!! I always just pour some dark chocolate chips in my tiny crock pot and let them melt on low. Then I dip them in and eat immediately, kind of like fondue. I’m too impatient to wait!
